The Wordle on the right displays the technologies available within my classroom. My school district recently installed SMART boards into the classroom and each teacher also received Microsoft Office 2011, an ELMO document camera, projectors, a subscription to Discovery Education, and a laptop. As demonstrated, there are several opportunities for students to explore, display their learning, and deepen their understanding of the material. As mentioned throughout my entire portfolio, these are the basic technological tools that I currently have and I plan on expanding this list throughout my teaching career.

Technologies

My vision for technology within the classroom is to offer engaging lessons and activities that integrate technology into all core subjects for every student. All students should be provided with opportunities to create, adapt, research, and collaborate with the use of technology. The 21st century offers tools, programs, resources, and products that students can explore and interact with in order to learn material in more meaningful ways. I hope to research multiple resources and receive a great amount of professional development so that I can continue to expand my knowledge of technology within the classroom. Since technology surrounds us, teachers need to utilize the tools and resources available in a positive way, providing new ways that students can manipulate and acquire information.

Vision for Technology

The students and adults that enter my classroom know that I strongly integrate and respect the six keys of human needs each and every day. Balancing and protecting these six keys allow all types of learners to feel comfortable in my classroom and encourages teachers to maintain student motivation from students within the design of their daily activities. The idea of the six keys comes from Performance Excellence for All Kids (PEAK), a program designed to do whatever it takes in order to enhance learning for students. Several of the technologies within my classroom allow me to utilize multiple keys in order to encourage high motivation, achievement, and student success.
